Effective date: October 22, 2026
No Time To Think (notimetothink.co) is an independent web novel site run by the writer with the pen name Mussette. This policy explains what information the site collects when you read, join, or contact me, how it's used, and the choices you have. In short: I collect as little as possible, I never sell your information, and you can ask me to delete it at any time.
If you have questions about this policy, email mussette@notimetothink.co.
Information I collect
When you just read. You don't need an account to read. Like most websites, the site sees basic technical details when you visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the page you came from, and the pages you view. Ghost, the platform the site runs on, uses these to produce privacy-friendly visitor statistics, such as how many people read a chapter and which countries they read from.
When you become a member. Membership is free. To join, you give:
- Your email address, used to sign you in with a one-click link. There are no passwords.
- A display name, shown publicly when you comment.
- Your email choices, such as whether you want announcement emails.
Ghost also keeps the date you joined, when you last signed in, and an approximate location (country or region) based on your IP address when you signed up.
When you comment. Your comment, your display name, and the date are shown publicly on the chapter. Your profile picture is your initial in a circle; you can't upload a photo.
When you heart a chapter. Your browser is given a random ID, so each person can heart a story only once. The heart is saved with that random ID, the story, the time, and your member ID if you're signed in. No name, email, or IP address is stored with it.
Reading progress and story subscriptions. To show "Continue reading" and check marks on chapters you've read, your reading progress is saved in your own browser. If you're signed in, your progress, the stories you subscribe to, and the chapters you've finished are also saved to your account, so they follow you between devices. This is stored with your member ID only, not your name or email.
When you use the contact form. You give your name, your email address, the reason you're writing, and your message. A spam check from Cloudflare confirms you're a real person, and your IP address is used briefly to limit how many messages can be sent.
Payments. If paid memberships launch, payments are handled entirely by Stripe. I never see or store your full card number. I receive only what's needed to manage your membership, such as your plan, billing country, and payment status.
How I use it
I use this information only to run the site and look after your account:
- Sign you in and keep your membership working.
- Show your comments and display name, and send the emails you've chosen.
- Remember your reading progress and the stories you subscribe to.
- Count hearts, so the Popular section shows what readers love.
- Understand which stories and chapters people read, using totals rather than tracking individuals.
- Answer messages you send me.
- Block spam and abuse, and keep the site secure.
- Follow the law, and protect the site and its readers if something goes wrong.
What I never do: I don't sell, rent, or trade your personal information. I don't share it with advertisers, and the site doesn't run ads or ad trackers.
Services the site relies on
A few trusted companies help run the site. They handle your information only to provide their service to me:
- Ghost hosts the site and manages memberships, comments, newsletters, and visitor statistics.
- Cloudflare delivers the site securely. It also runs the small programs behind hearts, reading progress, and subscriptions, provides the contact form's spam check, and routes email to my inbox.
- Stripe processes payments for paid memberships and donations.
- Google Workspace hosts my email, including messages you send me.
- jsDelivr and jQuery deliver some of the code the site loads, so they see standard technical details like your IP address when a page loads.
- Kit sends new chapter emails and announcements. It receives your email address, which stories you follow, and whether you want announcements. It doesn't receive your display name.
I may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of the site and its readers.
Emails I send
- Sign-in links whenever you sign in or join. These are required to use your account.
- New chapter emails for stories you subscribe to.
- Announcements, only if you said yes: occasional emails about new stories, the author, and website news.
- Comment replies, you can turn them off in your account settings.
- Newsletter emails may record whether they were opened or a link was clicked, so I know what readers find useful.
You can turn off any of these, except sign-in links, in your account settings or with the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email.
Cookies and browser storage
The site uses a small number of cookies and browser storage, all needed for it to work. There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- Sign-in cookie: keeps you signed in as a member.
- Set The Mood: remembers whether you picked dark or light mode.
- Hearts ID: the random ID that stops a story from being hearted twice from the same browser.
- Reading progress: remembers which chapters you've read on this device.
- Visit source: briefly notes which page led you to join, so I know which stories bring new members.
You can clear these anytime in your browser settings. If you do, you'll be signed out and the site will forget your preferences on that device.
How long I keep it
- Your account, reading progress, and subscriptions: as long as your account exists. When you delete it, they're deleted too.
- Comments: until you or I delete them, or your account is deleted.
- Hearts: kept as anonymous counts. Once your account is deleted, any link between a heart and your account is removed.
- Messages you send me: only as long as I need them to reply and keep a record of the conversation.
- Visitor statistics: kept as totals, not as profiles of individual readers.
How I protect it
- No passwords to steal: you sign in with one-time email links.
- Encryption: all traffic to and from the site uses HTTPS.
- Your data stays yours: signed-in features check that each request really comes from you, so no one can see or change another member's account.
- Account security: my admin accounts are protected with two-factor authentication.
No website can promise perfect security. If a breach ever affected your information, I'd tell you as required by law.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can:
- See and update your display name, email, and email settings in your account.
- Get a copy of the personal information I have about you.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete your account and the information tied to it. You can do this from your account page, or by emailing me.
- Unsubscribe from any email at any time.
To make a request, email mussette@notimetothink.co from the address on your account. I'll respond within 30 days and won't treat you differently for asking.
US state privacy rights. Depending on where you live, such as California, you may have extra rights to know, correct, and delete your information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing for targeted advertising. I don't sell or share personal information for advertising, so there's nothing to opt out of. You can still make any of the requests above.
Readers in the EU, UK, and similar places. I process your information because you asked for a service, like your account and the emails you chose (contract); with your consent, like announcement emails, which you can withdraw at any time; and for legitimate interests, like keeping the site secure and understanding readership in totals. You can also object to or limit how your information is used, and complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
This site isn't meant for children under 13, and some stories include mature themes and language. I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you think a child has made an account, email me and I'll delete it.
Readers outside the US
The site and the services it uses are based in the United States, so your information may be stored and processed there. Those services protect it with safeguards such as standard contract terms for international transfers.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, I'll update the effective date at the top. For bigger changes, I'll also let members know by email or with a notice on the site.
